Daffodils at the Crash Site

In February of 2024 I stepped out of character and canceled my week full of plans, including teaching my project based learning class with Andrea, to take advantage of a one week stay with my family at my neighbors time share at Otter Crest on the Oregon Coast. It ended up being the last trip our family would take together before we would lose our Buster boy.  One year later, my neighbor offered the use of her inn at Otter Crest yet again.  I decided once again to say yes. It was a very bittersweet trip. It was really epic in some ways- there was a HUGE storm, which made watching the titanic waves crashing on the shore so exciting. We lost power for an evening, and got the last open restaurant in town before it went out (best fish and chips we've ever had).  But one night- I just didn't feel much up for a game or movie night, because I just missed Buster. We watched his funeral together and it was very sweet.  On the way home from that trip, as I usually do on the way home from trips, I felt the ache of grief come rolling up through my stomach and sink deep into my heart, spilling waves of tears out of my eyes.  I didn't want to go home, and not find Buster there.  As tears rolled quietly down my face, I was turning away so as not to let anyone notice, when I saw at the crash site what looked like hundreds of tulip stems dancing in the wind.  Oh how it warmed my heart. Who could have done such a thing?! I asked my friends who I knew liked to garden, heck I even asked the ones who didn't- all said they couldn't take credit for the kind act.  I gave up the search and figured it was some kind soul in the community who I didn't even know.  Well, last week- my husband came home and told me that he found out who did it.  He was interviewing a couple from our stake who we hardly know, when the husband confessed to Jaron, that it was his wife who found out the temple was getting rid of their tulip bulbs, and she went and picked up 300, and then he and her both planted them one by one at the crash site.  There names are Scott and Jenna Hyde. These two people who hardly know us, came and did a huge act of service, not just for our families, but for the entire community. I am without words.
